Solana AI Agents: Teams, Jobs and Investor Signals in 2026

Solana now carries most x402 AI agent payments. Meet the funded teams building agents, the jobs they need and the signals investors should watch in 2026.

AI agents are no longer a demo on Solana. They are paying for data, calling AI models and moving money, millions of times a month. For job seekers and investors, that makes AI one of the most interesting corners of the ecosystem right now.

This guide covers what is actually happening, which teams are building it, and how to position yourself for the next wave.

Why AI agents are choosing Solana

An AI agent is software that can take actions on its own, like buying an API call, booking a service or making a trade. To do that, it needs to pay quickly and cheaply, often for tiny amounts.

That is exactly where Solana shines. Fees are well under a cent and payments settle in well under a second, so even a $0.001 payment still makes sense.

The x402 numbers

The clearest signal is x402, an open standard that lets an agent pay per request in USDC using the web's old "402 Payment Required" code. Coinbase created it in 2025, and the Linux Foundation launched an x402 Foundation in July 2026 with Visa, Stripe, Google and AWS among its premier members, according to Solana Compass.

In the four weeks to 19 September 2026, Solana processed 23.2 million x402 transactions. That was 76% of all tracked x402 activity, according to Artemis data shared by Solana. The next-largest network did 3.39 million.

Big names are plugging in too. In August 2026, Ramp added x402 agent wallet features on Solana for its network of more than 70,000 businesses.

The infrastructure keeps getting better

In September 2026, the Solana Foundation launched Payment Channels, built to support up to one million payments per second. An agent opens a channel, pays as many times as it needs, then settles once onchain.

In October, batch x402 payments went live through PayAI and BlockRun. BlockRun routes agents to more than 113 AI models through one endpoint. Solana says batching cuts more than $20,000 a month from BlockRun's network fees and makes it about 10 times faster.

Stablecoin supply on Solana also recently hit a record $17.51 billion. That matters, because agents pay in stablecoins.

A healthy dose of realism

Not every x402 transaction is a clever autonomous agent. A study by TRM Labs estimated that only 0.6% to 7.5% of screened x402 commerce looks truly agentic, and the dollar amounts are still small.

That is not a red flag. It is what an early market looks like. The rails are being built before the traffic arrives, which is usually when the best jobs and the best entry points appear.

Solana AI teams worth watching

Here are teams listed on Solana Teams that are building real AI products, with verified funding or traction.

SendAI

SendAI builds the open-source Solana Agent Kit, which lets any AI agent perform 60+ Solana actions like swaps, lending and NFT minting. Version one passed 100,000 downloads.

In September 2025, SendAI became a Solana Labs-backed company through its C3 incubator. It also ran a Solana AI Hackathon with more than 400 projects and a $275,000 prize pool. At the time, it was hiring for an AI engineer and a product designer.

Nous Research

Nous Research is an open-source AI lab. Its Psyche network uses Solana to coordinate AI model training across spare GPUs around the world.

In April 2025, Paradigm led a $50 million Series A at a reported $1 billion token valuation. Nous said the money would go towards research, compute and strategic engineering hires. Learn more at nousresearch.com.

Perle Labs

Perle Labs pays verified experts to review and improve the data used to train AI. Every task is recorded on Solana, so contributors get a clear, provable work history.

Perle raised a $9 million seed round led by Framework Ventures in August 2025, taking total funding to $17.5 million. Its team includes people from Scale AI, Meta, Amazon and MIT, and its late-2025 beta processed 1.7 million tasks. See perle.ai.

Crossmint

Crossmint gives AI agents safe wallets with spending limits, plus stablecoin and card payment rails. It supports more than 40 chains, including Solana.

Crossmint raised $23.6 million led by Ribbit Capital in March 2025, then took a strategic investment from Circle Ventures that September. Visit crossmint.com.

Nansen

Nansen is best known for onchain analytics. At Solana Summit Singapore this month, it previewed autonomous agents that research and execute trades. It is also one of the paid data services settling x402 payments on Solana.

Career paths in Solana AI

You do not need a PhD to work here. The most in-demand skills sit where AI meets payments and product.

  • AI engineers who can connect large language models to real tools and APIs.
  • Rust and TypeScript developers who understand Solana programs, wallets and transactions.
  • Security specialists, because an agent holding money is a target.
  • Product designers who can make agent tools simple and safe for normal people.
  • Data and research roles, from model training to onchain analytics.
  • Business development for teams selling agent payments to fintechs and enterprises.

How to stand out

Build something small and public. Try the Solana Agent Kit, ship an agent that pays for an API with x402, and write about what you learned.

What investors should look for

The AI agent economy on Solana is early, and that cuts both ways. Here are the signals worth tracking.

  • Real payment volume, not just transaction counts. Watch dollars settled, not only clicks.
  • Enterprise adoption, like Ramp, AWS and paid data services choosing Solana rails.
  • Developer pull, such as downloads, hackathon entries and GitHub activity.
  • Safety features, like spending limits and human approval, which big customers need.
  • Top-tier backers. Paradigm, Framework Ventures, Ribbit Capital and Circle Ventures are already in.

Payments and AI are merging fast. Teams in our Payments category and Infrastructure category are part of the same story.
